As scientific research is becoming increasingly international, the ability to speak about one’s research field in English and access scientific literature in English is a fundamental skill for future scientists. This course provides students with a starting point towards Biology-specific content understanding in English. Students will be exposed to Biology terminology in English in an interactive setting, using project-based approach to learning.
Course prerequisites: This course is open to any student at Nagoya University. However, to take the most advantage of this course, students should have (1) a basic knowledge in Biology and (2) an intermediate knowledge of general English language.

英語での基本的な生物学用語を学ぶ。
グループディスカッションやチームプロジェクトで、この専門用語を使う練習をする。
英語でのインタラクティブな講義を聞き、参加することに慣れる。
生物学に関連したトピックについて、英語でポスターやプレゼンテーションを行う。

授業の達成目標 【英語】
|
|
This course is designed for students from the regular Japanese program whose field is (or is related to) Biology. This course uses CLIL (content and language integrated learning) strategy. By the end of this course students will:
Learn essential Biology terminology in English;
Practice using this terminology in group discussions and team projects;
Get used to listening and participating in interactive lectures in English;
Practice making a simple poster and a presentation in English on Biology-related topic.

課外学修等
|
|
|
Students are expected to review the previous class material and preview the upcoming class material outside of class. Course projects (poster, oral presentation) are to be prepared outside of class time.
